Assembly Required

In areas of the world undergoing war or political crisis, mass quantities of refugees often require shelter to sustain them for long periods of time. Communities must be established virtually overnight in order to provide the fundamental necessities for survival.

Building on the structural system developed via our 'Dis-Assembly Required' proposal, the chain-link system was tested as a rapid-assembly prototype for temporary housing. Able to be air-dropped in crates along with other materials (food, water, medicine, clothing, etc.), the chain modules arrive as a kit-of-parts, ready to be assembled by laborers of nearly any skill level. The modules, as well as the crates which house them, all become functional participants in a system of construction calibrated to be simple, stable and quick.
