Ellipsis Welcomes Mia Kim

Welcome Mia!

Ellipsis Architecture is thrilled to welcome the multi-talented Mia Kim to our team. 

Mia was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1991 and moved to the volunteer state, Tennessee with her family in 2002. In 2010, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she earned her BFA in Interior Design at the University of Memphis. While in school, she worked with a tile design/ distribution company, honing her skills in client collaboration and communication between contractors, designers, architects, and clients. In her ongoing mission to expand her professional development further, so she moved to Chicago in 2015 to continue her study in Interior Architecture at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. 

Since she was young, she always admired architecture's ability to dissolve barriers and act as a common method of communication between people all around the world. In her professional life, she strives to harness these abilities to bring life and soul back into the unexpected, forgotten places in the world through the language of design. During graduate school, she took the opportunity to travel to Europe to expose herself to new angles of design and expand her language. When she isn't passionately pursuing her professional passions, Mia can be found at the local coffee shop, reading and relaxing with a “cuppa” tea.
